Residents of Taman Keramat will seek a court injuction, to block the proposed Datum Jelatek’s luxury condominium project, in the area.
Datum Jelatek Task Force Chairman, Salleh Samad claimed developer, Selangor Economic Development Corporation or PKNS, had deviated from its original plan to develop the land.
This morning, a number of residents and several NGOs took part in a peaceful demonstration to protest against the project.
When PKNS decided to redevelop the Taman Keramat flats in 2010..the residents said it had proposed to build affordable apartments on the said land.
However, it was later revealed, that PKNS had planned an upscale condominium project, which is well beyond the reach of the residents who used to live there.
The residents also claimed, that they were not consulted, when PKNS decided to change its development plan.
He added, the project is not only contrary to the promises by the state government, but also denying the rights of the people to own back properties in the area.
As such, the resident gave the state goverment a week to cancel the project, or they will take this matter to court.
Datum Jelatek is PKNS’s luxury condominium project which consist of four residential blocks and several shop lots to be built on a low cost flats site that were previously demolished.
Each unit is expected to be sold between 700 thousand ringgit to 11.6 million ringgit, and is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
